Earlier in January, Honda unveiled the Civic Si Concept Coupe and Civic Concept Sedan to the public at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. This was widely interpreted as a signal indicating that the ninth generation 2012 Civic would follow soon this spring. Unfortunately, at the time official press wasn't very detailed, leaving a lot of aspects and details, including the engine lineup, unclear.

The first week of February ushered in good automobile news for Honda followers and forums all because some inside sources revealed that a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, similar to the Acura TSX's engine, will be found in the new Civic Si. The four-cylinder engine will replace the current K20Z3 197-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, and is it expected to be able to produce over 200-horsepower. The second engine for the Civic's North American lineup is said to be the current 1.8-liter gas engine, but it'll probably have better fuel efficiency. Not too bad of a lineup.
