As South Korean automaker Kia continues to raise its profile in both technology and performance, two significant additions will be made available for the 2012 Sorento. First up is an available 2.4-liter GDI direct-injection four-cylinder engine, which will produce around 200hp, up from the previous engine's 175hp. Another significant upgrade for 2012 is Kia's YES Essential seat treatment, making the seats resistant to stains and static electricity.

They also contain an anti-bacterial chemical. Also new is the brand's hands-free UVO infotainment system. Official pricing is not yet available, but judging by the power increase, Kia is targeting automakers such as Ford who've also developed their own (EcoBoost) series of smaller, but more powerful engines.
