The latest Porsche to receive the performance-driven GTS treatment is the 2012 Cayenne. The four-door SUV is now said to drive like a sports car and with all the styling changes and added power, this could be one hyperbole that rings truer than most. Starting under the hood, the Cayenne GTS now cranks out 420hp from its V8 engine. Paired to an eight-speed Tip-tronic S transmission complete with efficient start/stop tech, the Cayenne GTS can sprint from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds and reach 100mph in 13.3 seconds.

The SUV can reach a top speed of 162mph. The faster Cayenne boasts efficiency numbers of 10.7 liters per 100km (62 miles). In terms of handling, Porsche has equipped the Cayenne GTS with the Porsche Active Suspension Management System, lowered it by 24mm and has a specially tuned chassis for 'thrilling driving dynamics.' The lowered-look is helped out by more prominent side skirts, wider wheel arches, roof spoiler and twin-wing profile. The interior features leather and Alcantara along with front sports seats and some further touches for a 'sporty elegance.'

The Porsche Cayenne GTS will arrive to market in July 2012 with a price tag in Germany of €90,774, including value-added tax. It could arrive by August in showrooms in the U.S. with a price-tag of $83,025. The SUV will make its debut at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show on April 23rd.
