The official announcement has just come down from the General Motors' hierarchy concerning the new 2013 Cadillac ATS: it will debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show and will feature three engine trims. The new entry-level Cadillac will run on either a new 3.6-liter V6, a next-generation 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecotec 4-cylinder or a 2.5-liter 4-cyldiner. The 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecotec 4-cylinder is designed for high-performance and boasts direct-injection tech for an output of 270hp.

This is 30hp than its rival 328i from BMW and their turbocharged 4-cylinder. "This engine is the perfect match for the new ATS, which will be a refined performance luxury sedan. The 2.0T has an exceptionally smooth and responsive power curve that will make the ATS, nimble, quick and fun to drive," said Don Butler, Cadillac VP of Global Marketing. The turbo 2.0-liter also features, along with direct-injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger, air-to-air intercooler, forged steel crankshaft and a two-stage variable displacement oil pump with jet-spay piston cooling.

The 2013 Cadillac ATS will debut in full next month at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. Photos displayed are of the 2013 Cadillac ATS concept.
