The Dodge Dart sets new interior standards for the compact car class.
Chrysler has been slowly dripping information about the Dodge Dart as we creep ever closer to the Detroit Auto Show, and following some teaser shots and mechanical details we've now been given a sneak peak at the interior. "High-tech, precisely crafted and highly customizable" are the buzz words Dodge is using about the interior, which can be personalized in thousands of different ways. There's a choice of 12 exterior colors for the Dart as well as 14 interior color and trim combinations.
Six wheel, three engine and three transmission options are also on offer, while Mopar has specifically developed hundreds of themed packages and customization options for the Dart. There's a distinct driver-centric layout that puts the controls within easy reach of the driver, the centerpiece of which is the floating island bezel housing the 7-inch TFT customizable gauge cluster display flanked by a standard analog tachometer and fuel gauge. The center stack also boasts Chrysler's speedy and well-received UConnect Touch 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia center, the largest in its class.
Red 'racetrack' lighting outlines the cluster, while ambient lighting for the door handles, foot wells, map pockets, glove box (large enough to swallow and iPad), storage bin and illuminated cup holders is both functional and provides a warm ambience. 10 standard airbags is a first for the C-segment, and the Dodge is also the only car in its class offering cross-path detection and blind-spot monitoring systems. It won't be long until we have full details but in the meantime enjoy these Dart teasers.
