Following the unveiling of the 2013 Accord concept at the Detroit Auto Show, Honda is this week previewing the next Crosstour model with this concept. It is hoped the Crosstour, with its "more capable-looking styling," will attract "active consumers" but from what's on display it's hard to see how disappointing sales will do anything but continue to disappoint. The concept certainly has a rugged SUV-like facade, featuring a more (overly?) aggressive front-end and a massive grille.

There's also a sporty front bumper, plastic body cladding, some sill plates, a bulging hood, revised tailgate and 19-inch alloys, though the production Crosstour will be fitted with 18-inch wheels. Two powertrains will be on offer: a 192hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, and a 3.5-liter V6 with a six-speed auto box. FWD comes as standard, while part-time AWD will come as an option. Honda says the interior of the new production Crosstour will come with an eight-inch display and LaneWatch blind-spot detection, as well as updated trim and keyless ignition.

Steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters will also feature on the V6 models. The 2013 Honda Crosstour will be launched in the fall, so keep an eye out for reveals of the production model closer to the time.
