We're still waiting for an official release, but in the meantime these official photos will have to sate your appetite.
Just a couple of days before the car is unveiled at the New York Auto Show, official images managed to work their way into cyberspace giving us the first glimpse of the next-gen full-size SUV. Based on the same architecture underpinning the new ML, the luxury crossover features a longer wheelbase to make room for seven seats arranged in three rows. The styling is also similar to the ML, though with a boxier rear-end and more pronounced taillights.
There's still no official release, but the 2013 GL is expected to come with the same 3.0-liter turbo-diesel, rated at 302hp and 273lb-ft of torque, as the ML350 BlueTec 4Matic, as well as a couple of V8 gasoline options. Mercedes twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 will be good for more than 400hp and will likely power a new GL550, but the GL450 may be removed from the lineup. Sales will start sometime later this year, with prices to be close to the current model's $63,445 price tag. More information and live shots will follow once the New York Auto Show opens its doors.
