Happy Sunday everyone. To get today started off right, we're bringing you this new bit of official news that will surely please every Mustang fan – and we know there are plenty of you. According to Mustangs Daily, an inside source at Ford has confirmed that the first 1,000 examples of the all-new 2014 Mustang will in fact be marked as 2014.5 model year units, as the automaker celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original Mustang.

The original 'Stang, as many should know, was officially a 1964.5 model year car. Don't expect for the 50th anniversary 2014.5 Mustang to have any special high-performance upgrades. Instead, each unit will have a special VIN and build number. No word yet as to which engine will be residing under the hood, but we wouldn't at all be shocked to see the 5.0-liter V8 that'll be good for about 450 horsepower. It just seems fitting. What can be expected, however, is that dealerships will more than likely charge way above MSRP simply due to the fact that the car will be an instant collector's item.
