New touring-car fighter looks to defend title for 2014.
With the 2014 DTM season fast approaching, Audi has revealed its latest touring-car competitor. Last year’s championship-winning racer was based on the RS 5 coupe and following the old adage: if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, Audi has based this year’s DTM car on the same model. The 2014 model has become “significantly more aggressive” thanks to a new aero package, a honeycombe grille, new front intakes, redesigned wheel arches and a retuned suspension.
The 465-hp V8 remains under the hood, driving the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential box. The 2014 Audi RS 5 DTM will take on the BMW M4 DTM and Mercedes C-Class Coupe DTM with the defense of its title to start at Hockenheim on May 4.
