There's been a lot of talk lately about the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro, due sometime in late 2014 or early 2015. Aside from rumors of a turbo four-pot as a possible base engine in that car, it's apparently too early to write-off the current fifth-gen Camaro just yet. After all, there are still plenty of Mustangs to go after. According to fan site Camaro5, which managed to get a hold of a dealer's VIN cards for the 2014 Camaro, there will be a new engine available: the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 that powers the hard-core Corvette Z06.

N/A

With a total of 505 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, it's not as powerful as the 6.2-liter LSA V8 in the Camaro ZL1, which produces 580 hp and 556 lb-ft, but it still packs quite a punch over the base V8 offering. The LS3 V8 in the 1SS produces 426 hp, making us wonder what the new trim could be called. Our best guess at the moment: the Z/28, which has been rumored for some time. On another note, Camaro5's leak also revealed that the base 3.6-liter V6 will also become E85 capable for 2014. Chevrolet hasn't confirmed anything just yet but it seems clear that the automaker is making sure the current Camaro leaves production at the top of its game.
