America's number 1 selling truck is about to become America's most cost efficient half ton truck for gas in 2014. Ford has recently announced that it will be offering the 2014 F-150 with a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel option on the highly popular 3.7-liter V6 engine. The American automaker will release eight vehicles with a CNG option for the 2014 model year and it's expecting to sell more than 15,000 CNG prepped vehicles this year alone.

The package includes hardened valves, valve seats, pistons and rings that will allow it to use either CNG or gasoline through separate fuel systems. The package will tag on an extra $10k to the sticker price, but one Ford exec stated that "With the money saved using CNG, customers could start to see payback on their investment in as little as 24 to 36 months." Our biggest question still remains. Will you explode like a powder keg if you get rear ended?
