A couple of years ago, we told you about a Dutch firm named Huet Brothers, which was about to launch a retro-design sports coupe based on the current-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata. It turns out that despite getting quite a lot of interest in the car, the firm later decided to push production off, and is now waiting for the next-generation Miata, which is due next year, to debut. The Huet Brothers plan to use this new model as a basis for their carbon-fiber-bodied Coupe model.

The next Miata is expected to weigh approximately 220 pounds less than the current model, utilizing Mazda's SkyActiv chassis. The Huet Brothers Coupe will employ a weight-reducing four-pot engine, though the firm has stated that an upgrade six-cylinder engine will also be available. The firm will also produce an offshoot model called the HB Coupe Road Racer, a road-legal, bare-bones model that will be even lighter and more nimble on the road.
