2018 Ford Mustang RTR Is A 700-HP Hellcat Fighter

Reveal

Vaughn Gittin Jr. creates yet another hardcore Stang just in time for SEMA.

With the SEMA show about to kick off in Las Vegas, it’s time for drifting maestro Vaughn Gittin Jr. to reveal his interpretation of the latest Mustang. Introducing the 2018 Ford Mustang RTR, with the now trademark illuminated nostrils flanking the grille indicating that there’s something uniquely different about this particular Stang. There’s also a redesigned front bumper as part of an aerodynamics package, some RTR badges along the side of the car, and a “RTR Design Package.”

So exterior mods, as you can see, have been kept to a minimum. And that’s because most of the changes are out of sight. A trio of engine tunes: Spec 1, Spec 2, and Spec 3, will be offered to buyers of the Mustang RTR, the most potent of which ups output of the GT’s 5.0-liter V8 to over 700 horsepower. The exact details of what Gittin Jr.’s tuning firm has done will be revealed in due course, but we suspect a supercharger and intercooler is involved along with a performance suspension, bespoke exhaust system and upgraded brakes. What’s not in doubt is that the Mustang RTR will be well up for a fight with the Dodge Hellcat, although it might want to leave the Demon well alone.

According to Gittin, "It’s amazing what Ford has been able to accomplish with the 2018 Mustang in terms of performance and overall refinement, but the RTR team and I just couldn’t leave it alone!" He added, "I am confident, and many will agree, that this is one of the most fun Ford Mustangs ever to hit the street!” As well as showcasing the RTR Mustang at the aftermarket extravaganza, the tuning house will be revealing its Ford F-150-based RTR Muscle Truck. The 2018 Ford Mustang RTR will be available at select Ford dealers shortly after the show, equipped with new alloys a dash plaque signed by the man himself.
