We've been mighty impressed with the all-new Armada on the few occasions we've gotten to test out the full-size SUV. And if you're in the market for something with room for eight, you might want to wait a few days, as the 2018 model will go on sale this Friday, September 1, priced from $45,600. That's for the Armada SV 2WD, with prices going all the way up to $61,590 for the range-topping Armada Platinum 4WD SUV. Although that does get you plenty of desirable features.

Whatever trim takes your fancy, each comes with a 390-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. For 2018, Nissan has added an 8-inch multi-touch control display, HD Radio, NissanConnect Services by SiriusXM, Enhanced Voice Recognition, hands-free text messaging assistant and additional USB ports. For the first time on any Nissan vehicle, Armada Platinum models will also get the Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM). A built-in LCD monitor sits within the traditional rearview mirror, providing uninterrupted rearward visibility when cargo or tall rear-seat passengers are blocking the view.

"Not since a magic mirror of children's fables has a mirror seemed to have such special powers as the new I-RVM," said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America. "It provides a clear, expanded field of view under a wide range of conditions – giving the driver the best possible view of the rear flanks no matter how tall the passengers in the back seat or how many balloons you have to take to that party." While looking like any other rearview mirror, at the flip of a switch the LCD monitor can be activated. The I-RVM utilizes a narrow-angle camera and specially-shaped monitor with a 4:1 aspect ratio, providing a clear, high quality picture with minimal glare in all conditions.

Platinum trim Armadas also get a power-sliding moonroof, front climate controlled seats, Family Enterainment System and Nissan Safety Shield technologies. The Armada SL, (starting from $50,350 for the 2WD and $53,250 for the 4WD models) get all the standard features from the SV, as well as Remote Engine Start System, power 60/40 third-row seat, Intelligent Around View Monitor (I-AVM), power liftgate, and 20-inch wheels. Four option packages are also on offer: Driver's Package, Premium Package, Pearl White Paint and second row SUV's Captain's Chairs Package.
