2018 Volvo S60 And V60 Polestar Are Pure Swedish Naughtiness

Here's why you'll want one.

After learning Volvo has unleashed its Polestar performance division as a standalone brand, we immediately wondered what more could come from the country that's already given us the Nurburgring lap record sedan holder, the S60 Polestar. Turns out the answer, at least for now, is an even better S60 and its wagon counterpart, the V60. Volvo has just announced the updated 2018 S60 and V60 Polestar, limited in production to just 1,500 examples combined. What's new, exactly?

Both now feature additional aerodynamic components constructed from carbon fiber that increases downforce by an impressive 30 percent. Overall performance and handling are improved as a result. Specifically, the new aero components, developed jointly by Polestar and Cyan Racing engineers, consist of a new front splitter, side sills and rear spoiler extension. Drivers will enjoy increased grip and high-speed stability that can be felt both on and off track. Polestar specifically points out that several of these components were derived directly from that Nurburgring stomping S60.

Other exterior upgrades include high-gloss black Polestar diamond cut wheels, carbon fiber door mirror casings, and even a new paint color: Bursting Blue Metallic. The interior also received some attention by way of new seat upholstery, blue contrast stitching and Polestar embroidering. Power comes from the familiar supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, rated at 362 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. Official pricing for either the sedan or wagon wasn't released, but if you want one, act fast.
