2019 Audi RS7 Sportback Spied Attacking The Nurburgring

Spy Shots / 3 Comments

The hardcore Audi RS7 Sportback couldn’t hide from our spy photographers.

Since Audi unveiled the all-new A7 Sportback last year, the German automaker has yet to show us the spiced up S7, let alone the range-topping RS7 Sportback. And yet here we are ogling at new photos of the second-generation Audi RS7 in action. Our spy photographers have sent us photos of the hardcore German sedan being put through its paces at the Nurburgring where it was given a thorough workout.

While the rear styling may fool you into thinking this prototype is an A7 55 TFSI, take one look at the RS-specific tail pipes and it's obvious we're looking at the full-fat Audi RS7 renewed for the second-generation. The extended wheel arches, wider fenders, and massive black alloy rims also confirm this is no ordinary A7. A layer of camouflage has been applied at the front to disguise the more aggressive side air intakes, suggesting the production-ready bumper has been applied to the prototype. Under the hood, the new Audi RS7 is expected to pack an all-new twin-turbocharged V8 powertrain delivering around 650 hp.

Chances are it will be the same powertrain shared with the new Bentley Continental GT. Last year, Evo also confirmed that Audi Sport wants to capitalize on the hybrid market with an even more powerful RS7 Sportback that uses the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid's setup to deliver a whopping 700 hp. Reports suggest the new Audi RS7 will go on sale later this year, so an official reveal shouldn't be too far away.
