FCA continues to keep the Charger fresh.
Dodge has already teased the refreshed 2019 Challenger Hellcat and the facelifted 2019 Charger Hellcat. Now, FCA has announced the full range of changes for the 2019 Charger lineup, which includes a new fascia, as well as performance upgrades across the board. Starting with the flagship SRT Hellcat, the Charger will remain the most powerful sedan in the world with 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. As always, power will be routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
For 2019, the Charger Hellcat features a new performance grille with dual inlets to feed air into the engine. In addition to the aesthetic changes, the Charger will borrow four race-inspired technologies that were first seen on the Demon. These features will come as standard, and include: launch assist, line lock, after-run engine chiller, and torque reserve. The torque reserve system closes a bypass valve to prefill the supercharger and deliver a surge of torque on the launch. New options for the Hellcat include: a satin black painted hood, Brass Monkey 20-inch forged wheels, and an Alcantara interior package.
The R/T Scat Pack also receives the new front fascia, and produces 485 hp for less than $40,000. Launch assist and line lock are also standard, and a new switch on the dashboard makes it easy for the driver to activate launch control. Available options for the Scat Pack include: a satin black-painted hood, dual carbon stripes, and three-mode Bilstein adaptive damping suspension. On the standard R/T, a 5.7-liter V8 produces 385 hp. The car has been updated with a new performance hood, fascia, spoiler, sculpted sides, seats, performance suspension, 2.62 rear axle ratio, enhanced steering, and 20-inch satin and black wheel options.
Dodge has added a new trim for 2019, called the SXT AWD. This trim is powered by the Pentastar V6, and produces 300 hp. The base RWD SXT only produces 292 hp, but if you want the more powerful 300 hp V6 with RWD, the GT trim offers this combination.
