After unveiling the European version of the funky crossover, Fiat has lifted the wraps off the new facelifted 500X for the North American market. Slated to make its US public debut at the LA Auto Show this week before going on sale in spring 2019, the 2019 Fiat 500X features a refreshed exterior with a revised front fascia incorporating LED running lights, as well as optionally-available full LED headlights that provide 20 percent greater lighting capability while consuming five times less energy than traditional halogen lights.

With these new LED lights installed, FCA claims that obstacles can be spotted four seconds and nearly 330 feet sooner at a speed of up to 56 mph compared to the standard halogen units. Other new visual flourishes include a stylish LED signature strip around the front light module and rear LED tail lamps. Also new for the 2019 model are three new exterior paint colors (Italia Blue, Vibrante Green and Milano Ivory Tri-coat) in addition to the 12 standard color options, and 17-inch and 18-inch wheel options.

The cockpit has been given a refresh, too. Inside, the 2019 Fiat 500X features a new instrument cluster with improved graphics for the 3.5-inch TFT display, which is flanked by two traditional analogue dials. Also included is Fiat's latest generation infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and optional BeatsAudio premium sound system.

Like its European equivalent, the US-spec 2019 Fiat 500X is powered by an all-new 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that sends 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft to all four wheels. The gasoline unit is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox with more direct response and quicker gear shifts, while the all-wheel-drive system disconnects the rear axle to improve fuel efficiency when additional traction is not needed.

"Our new Italian-designed, fun-to-drive 2019 Fiat 500X comes standard with an all-new, fuel-efficient 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that generates best-in-class torque," said Steve Beahm, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. "The new 2019 Fiat 500X also features standard all-wheel-drive capability tailored to handle multiple climates and road conditions."

Prices for the 2019 Fiat 500X start at $25,785 including destination for the entry-level Pop model, while the range-topping Trekking Plus model starts at $30,490.
