The redesigned Genesis G80 isn't slated to arrive until next year as a 2020 model, so we weren't expecting the 2019 model to receive any major changes. As such, Genesis has unveiled the 2019 G80, which includes a new Sport Package available for the 3.8-liter V6 model and upgraded tech. Taking cues from G80 3.3T, the 3.8 Sport Package adds copper-accented center wheel cap surrounds, more aggressive front and rear bumpers and side sills, dark chrome detailing on the grille and window trim, and dual exhaust tips. Rounding off the exterior changes are unique 19-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires. These enhancements give the luxury sedan a sportier appearance.

Inside, the 3.8 Sport Package adds a set of sport pedals and a sport steering wheel. Across the G80 3.8 range, an upgraded, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration replaces the previous model's head unit. An optional 9.2-inch touchscreen navigation system is also available.

As with the outgoing model, the 2019 Genesis G80 is available with three engine options: a base 3.8-liter V6, a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 and a range-topping 5.0-liter V8. Every model comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the new 3.8-liter Sport Package is offered with rear- and all-wheel drive.

As standard, the 2019 Genesis G80 comes with a comprehensive list of advanced safety features, including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Driver Attention Alert, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop/Start. High Beam Assist, Rearview Camera, Haptic Steering Wheel, and Pre-Active Seatbelt assists are also included as standard along with nine airbags. Optional equipment includes Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Full LED headlights with Dynamic Bending Light, full-color head-up display and a Multi-view Camera.

Pricing for the 2019 Genesis G80 starts at $42,050 excluding destination charges.
