It's the time of the year when automakers begin shipping new model year vehicles to its dealerships across North America. Thing is, many of those dealerships still have too much previous model year inventory still left in stock and there's simply not enough space on lots for everything. The solution is discounts, thus making this a particularly smart time to buy or lease. There can potentially be some even better deals when a particular model has not been meeting sales expectations. The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is one of them.

As first reported by GM Authority, overall GMC Sierra sales decreased by 4 percent in the second business quarter of this year. Sierra 1500 sales were slightly worse with a 4.7 percent drop while Sierra HD declined by 2.9 percent. These figures were not entirely unexpected given that the Sierra 1500, completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, was still making its way to dealerships during Q2 and was sold alongside the previous generation truck for a time.

Presently, 2019 Sierra 1500 availability is at full-steam but GMC still wants to end the year on a high note, hence the following new discounts:

• 2019 Sierra 1500 (Double Cab models): 20 percent below MSRP for current GM owners and lessees

• 2019 Sierra 1500 (SLE Crew Cab models): 20 percent below MSRP for current GM owners and lessees

• 2019 Sierra 1500 (Crew Cab 4WD with SLT Premium Plus Package): $3,531 Price Reduction Below MSRP + $5,500 Purchase Allowance + $1,000 Option Package Discount = $10,031 total value

The third discount is what truly stands out. Yes, that's a $10,000 discount off specific Sierra 1500s. Given that there's little difference to no difference between the 2019 and 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, this current offer is quite attractive. However, time is of the essence. These GMC discounts are only good through September 30. Also, note that the first two discounts are only being offered to current GM owners and lessees.

In order to qualify for that, those buyers must have owned or leased a 2005 model year or newer GM vehicle for at least 30 days prior to the sale of the new vehicle. For anyone considering a new 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 but were not satisfied with previous (or lack thereof) incentives, now's the time.
