2019 Mazda3 Gets Affordable Starting Price

Pricing

Although we still have no idea how much the SkyActiv-X will cost.

The 2019 Mazda3 was revealed at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. At the launch, we learned the new 3 would continue to be sold in sedan and hatchback body styles and that all-wheel-drive would be a new additional feature. What we did not learn was how much this new car would cost but now Mazda has announced official pricing.

Pricing for the 2019 Mazda3 starts off at $21,000 for the front-wheel-drive sedan model and increases to $23,600 for the hatchback. This is significantly more than the 2018 model's $18,095 starting price, though the previous generation base car was powered by a 155-horsepower 2.0-liter engine whereas this new model uses a 186-hp 2.5-liter Sky-Activ-G engine as standard.

All base Mazda3 sedans come standard with 16-inch wheels, cloth seats, and power windows with one-touch down/up. The base hatchback comes with more standard features including a rear roof spoiler, 18-inch wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leatherette seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and advanced keyless entry. Hatchback models also include standard i-ACTIVSENSE safety suite, which bundles Driver Attention Alert, Smart City Brake Support, Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Control, and Radar Cruise Control.

Buyers will have the choice of Select, Preferred and Premium packages on the sedan while the hatchback will only be available in Preferred and Premium packages. The Select Package for the sedan adds important features such as the i-ACTIVSENSE safety suite, 18-inch wheels, CarPlay and Android Auto, and leatherette seats (full pricing is pictured below).

Stepping up to the Select package adds a Bose premium 12-speaker audio system, heated front seats, and an eight-way power driver's seat. The top Premium package adds a head-up display, leather seats, moonroof, front and rear LED lighting, and an Adaptive Front-lighting System. Opting for AWD costs $1,400 and is available on most trim packages. Interestingly, the manual transmission cannot be combined with AWD and will only be available on the Premium package hatchback with FWD.

Mazda will also offer three premium paint colors including Soul Red Crystal ($595), Machine Gray Metallic ($300), and Snowflake White Pearl Mica ($200). The 2019 Mazda3 will go on sale in March 2019, though we still don't know when the revolutionary SkyActiv-X engine will be available or how much it will cost.
