But how long will it take to arrive in America?

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been refreshed for the 2019 model year with a slew of significant updates, including more power and an improved range. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2.4 liter gasoline engine has increased from 117 hp and 141 lb-ft of torque to 133 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the electric motor powering the rear axles now makes 94 hp, while the battery output has increased by 10 percent and its overall capacity has increased to 13.8 kWh thanks to the addition of new cells.

With these changes, the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will reach an electric top speed of 84 mph, up from 78 mph, while 0-62 mph takes 10.5 seconds, making it 0.5 seconds quicker off the line than the outgoing model. Mitsubishi claims the plug-in hybrid SUV will hit a top speed of 106 mph. According to the automaker, the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV achieves an WLTP-rated zero-emissions range of 28 miles and will do 141 mpg in the UK. Complementing the drivetrain changes are revised front and rear shock absorbers that improves the ride at low speeds while "retaining its high-speed and cornering composure" as well as an updated traction control system and larger front disc brakes.

There are also two new driving modes. 'Sport' mode provides sharper throttle response and more grip, while 'Snow' mode improves low-grip launching and cornering abilities on slippery surfaces. In terms of exterior changes, the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV benefits from a new front end with a redesigned grille, new bumper extension, new fog lamp bezels and new LED headlamps. The rear is enhanced with a redesigned rear bumper extension and a large roof spoiler. Two-tone 18-inch multi-spoke alloys round off the exterior revisions. Inside, new front seats offer improved comfort and lateral support. A new toggle switch has also been added for the Super-All Wheel Control system and Sport mode switch.

The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is slated to go on sale in the UK and Europe this September with pricing and specifications to be announced at a later date. Mitsubishi has shipped over 100,000 Outlander PHEVs across Europe since it was introduced in 2014, but the model only recently went on sale in the US after numerous delays, so it's probably going to take a long time for the updated Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to arrive stateside.
