Alfa Romeo may have sadly discontinued the 4C Coupe in North America, but the Spider variant will live on for the 2020 model year. At the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, the Italian automaker has introduced a new limited-edition 2020 4C Spider Italia for North America, limited to only 15 examples.

Compared to the standard version, the limited-edition 4C Spider Italia features an exclusive Misano Blue Metallic exterior color that isn't available on any other 4C variant with a contrasting piano black front air intake and rear diffuser. A unique livery adorned with '4C Spider Italia' graphics round off the exterior changes.

Inside, the special-edition 4C includes an aluminum dashboard insert with a '4C Spider Italia' logo and a numbered plate on the center console highlighting its exclusivity.

Pricing for the 2020 4C Spider hasn't changed from the 2019 model year, so the Italian sports car will still set you back at least $66,900. The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia carries a $5,000 premium, however, bringing the total to $71,900, plus a $1,595 destination charge.

A rear backup camera, cruise control, and rear parking sensors also come as standard to sweeten the deal. Orders will open up in the second quarter of this year.

Like the standard 4C, power is provided by a turbocharged 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Those figures may sound rather modest, but thanks to its lightweight Formula 1-inspired carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the 4C delivers an impressive 10.4 power-to-weight ratio, weighs less than 2,500 pounds, and does the 0-62 mph sprint in 4.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 160 mph.
