As we quietly hold out hope for a wagon renaissance here in the US, Audi is bringing us two versions of the Audi A6 Avant. One is the brilliant Audi RS6 Avant, and the other is the rugged 2020 Audi A6 Allroad. We now have some price details for the Allroad model, and the knowledge that it's arriving with two trim levels: Premium Plus and Prestige.

Premium Plus will have you writing a check for at least $66,895, while Prestige starts at a whopping $71,395, and both are quoted before a $995 destination charge. For reference, a Mercedes-Benz E 450 wagon starts at $66,100 while the Audi Q8 starts at $67,400.

It's premium pricing, but the A6 Allroad is lining up to be a premium product. It comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine making 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft that's sent to the road via Audi's Quattro Altra AWD system and a seven-speed S Tronic transmission. The chassis rides on adaptive air suspension with controlled damping and sits 1.8 inches higher than the A6 sedan.

Matrix-design LED headlights with high beam assist and LED taillights with dynamic rear indicators are standard equipment, as are the roof rails, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and an Allroad specific diffuser on the rear of the car. The inside gets the same level of tech and safety equipment as the A6, as well as dark brown walnut natural wood inlays, four-zone climate control, heated power seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The A6 Allroad is as well equipped out of the box as the price suggests, but there are also some extra options available. Those include dual-pane acoustic glass, a driver assistance package, and a side assist package.

Audi is also bringing a 20th Anniversary Edition to the US that comes with a Gavial Green exterior that's inspired by the Highland Green color from the original A6 Allroad. It also arrives with a Sarder Brown Valcona leather interior with fine Nappa accents and fine grain ash wood inlays, doorsills illuminated with the Allroad logo, stainless steel pedals and footrest, a leather seat base, and a leather airbag cap with contrast stitching.
