Buick's new subcompact crossover slots between the Encore and the Envision.
Back in May last year, the US version of the Buick Encore GX broke cover, which slots in between the regular Buick Encore and the larger Buick Envision. Now, Buick has finally confirmed pricing details for the new Encore GX.
Arriving in dealers later this year, the 2020 Buick Encore GX starts at $25,095 for the entry-level Preferred trim. For comparison, the regular Buick Encore starts at $23,200. Moving up the range, the mid-tier Select trim starts at $26,695, while the range-topping Essence starts at $29,495. As standard, all trims are front-wheel drive, but an optional all-wheel-drive system is available for an extra $2,000.
All-wheel-drive versions of the Buick Encore GX are powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder producing 155 horsepower, paired with a nine-speed automatic. A turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 137 hp and mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission is offered as standard, though this unit can also be upgraded to the more powerful 1.3-liter version for an extra $395.
Summit White is the only no-cost exterior color, with prices ranging from $495 to $1,095 for all other colors across all trim levels. Two interior color options are available for the Preferred and Select trim levels, while the range-topping Essence trim is available with an extra color option.
Also available for all trim levels is a Sport Touring package for $650 that adds dark wheels, a sportier grille and bumpers, and red exterior accents. A $1,815 Safety package available for the base model adds a rear parking assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, heated front seats, a power driver's seat, remote start, and a power liftgate.
For $1,995, Select and Essence models can be specified with an Experience Buick package that adds more luxuries including a power moonroof, navigation, unique wheels, and a 360-degree camera to the party. Alternatively, these two trims can also be equipped with an Advanced Technology package costing $2,455 that adds navigation, adaptive cruise control, rear park assist, a head-up display, 360-degree camera, and a power liftgate.
