While we're still waiting for the 2020 Cadillac XT5 to make its US debut, the luxury SUV has been updated in China with a minor facelift to give us an idea what to expect from the upcoming US update. Cadillac claims the 2020 XT5 has 30 upgraded features, but the exterior looks nearly identical to its predecessor. The most noticeable change is the updated grille that matches other new Cadillac crossovers like the XT4 and XT6.

Elsewhere, the side mirrors, rear spoiler, and rear wiper have improved aerodynamics to make the XT5 more fuel efficient, quieter and more comfortable. The Luxury variant comes with bright Galvano exterior accents on the upgraded grille, roof rails and side windows, while gloss black details distinguish the Sport version.

Bigger changes can be found under the hood. In China, the 2020 XT5 is powered by GM's new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine first seen in the XT4, which produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Chances are this will be added to the US model's engine lineup in addition to its predecessor's 3.6-liter V6 that produces 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel-drive twin-clutch system provides four driving modes: Comfort, All-Wheel Drive, Sport and Off-Road.

Inside, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 features a new CUE infotainment system that can be accessed with a new rotary controller borrowed from the XT4. Another noticeable interior upgrade is a new rear view mirror camera that includes more brightness adjustment levels and increased resolution.

The new XT5 has 14 upgraded active and passive safety features, including Forward and Reverse Automatic Braking, with four millimeter wave radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic radar sensors and six cameras to monitor the surrounding environment. Other safety technologies include forward automatic braking, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator and night vision. We're also expecting the US model to come with Cadillac's Super Cruise driver assist.
