The State Fair of Texas is the ideal venue for automakers to reveal their latest trucks since the Lonestar state buys more pickups than any other. We've already seen reveals of the Ram 1500 Limited Black Edition and Ram Heavy Duty Night Editions, the 2020 Nissan Titan, and the Ford Expedition King Ranch. Now, it's Chevrolet's turn to join in on the fun with two special edition versions of the 2020 Silverado 1500: the Midnight and Rally Editions.

"Customer choice is a competitive advantage for Chevrolet because no two truck drivers are alike," said Mark Sobczynski, Silverado marketing manager. "Whether it's the sinister Midnight Edition or a sporty Rally Edition, special editions offer our customers a custom look direct from the factory that fits their unique personality."

The Midnight Edition is more off-road focused and can be optioned on the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trims. It adds a two-inch factory suspension lift and the Z71 Off-Road Package with Rancho mono-tube off-road shocks, an automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, 18-inch black wheels, and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires. Compared with the standard Trail Boss, the Midnight Edition is distinguished by its blacked-out appearance.

The Custom Trail Boss can be equipped with the 5.3-liter V8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission or the 6.2-liter V8 engine with a 10-speed automatic while the LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition is only available with the 6.2L V8.

The Rally Edition is more street-focused and can be optioned on the Custom and RST trims. Buyers can choose from four available colors including Black, Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic, or Summit White. Each Rally Edition includes a body-colored grille, black Rally stripes, black Chevrolet tailgate lettering, black badging, black Bowties, black exhaust tips, and black assist steps. The Custom Rally trim comes with 20-inch black wheels and the 2.7-liter turbo engine mated to an eight-speed automatic while the RST Rally Edition gets 22-inch wheels. The RST includes a choice of 2.7-liter four-cylinder, 5.3-liter V8, and 6.2 V8 powerplants.

"Whether at auto shows, local car shows or on the road, people turn their heads when they see our special edition trucks," said Sobczynski. "Our dealers often put these special editions at the front of their lot because they attract people into the store and draw attention to the entire truck lineup." Chevy says both trucks will be available to order next month and will arrive at dealerships later this year.
