Ford's most luxurious family hauler returns.
The latest-generation Ford Expedition is an extremely capable and luxurious SUV for hauling up to eight people. It is so nice, in fact, it almost makes you question whether or not to pay more for its luxury sibling, the Lincoln Navigator. Ford has been so successful with the new Expedition, it is now bringing back the King Ranch trim level, which is the top trim level of both the F-150 and Super Duty and was also available on the now-defunct Excursion.
"The King Ranch name carries with it a legacy of hard work that defines the American ranching lifestyle, with the heritage and family traditions Ford Expedition represents," said Andrew Kernahan, Expedition chief engineer. "It's a great addition to the lineup, growing Expedition's appeal and personality in Texas as well as with customers across the US looking for western-inspired style and timeless design."
Ford has differentiated the Expedition King Ranch with Del Rio leather on all three rows of seats, Ziricote wood veneer, Stone Gray accent paint, power-deployable running boards, and 22-inch wheels with unique center caps. The exterior also features a rear bumper skid plate, trailer hitch cover, roof-rack side rails, 22-inch six-spoke painted machine-finished aluminum wheels, and unique badging.
The King Ranch sits atop the Expedition lineup and comes well-equipped with standard Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assist technology, continuously controlled damping, a 360-degree camera, power-folding mirrors, security approach lamps, and an auto-dimming driver's side mirror. If you want a loaded Expedition but don't care for all of King Ranch details, Ford will also offer an upgraded Platinum trim with similar features and more conventional styling.
The Platinum trim also comes highly optioned with leather seats with perforated seat inserts and quilted bolsters, multi-contour front seats with Active Motion, and a Wollsdorf leather-wrapped steering wheel with Pecan stitching. Pricing for the 2020 Ford Expedition starts at $72,895 for the standard-wheelbase model and the Platinum starts at $73,935. Both trims will also be available in the extended Expedition Max configuration.
