From new model debuts and historic race cars to drifting displays and hill climb time trials, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has it all. Every year, the sell-out event attracts over 200,000 gearheads. It's the ultimate celebration of motorsport and car culture.

Last year's Goodwood Festival of Speed celebrated record-breaking competition cars and racing drivers. Fittingly, the Volkswagen I.D. R set a new all-time Goodwood Hillclimb record at the event. Now, organizers have announced the 2020 Goodwood Festival of Speed theme will be "The Maestros - Motorsport's Great All-Rounders," which will celebrate the drivers, riders, teams, and manufacturers that have conquered motorsport's greatest challenges.

One of the motorsport legends that will be attending this year's Festival of Speed will be former Belgian racing driver Jacky Ickx, whose achievements include six Le Mans 24 Hours victories, back-to-back drivers' titles in the FIA World Endurance Championship, eight Grand Prix wins, the 1979 Can-Am championship, the 1965 European Touring Car Championship, the 1967 Formula 2 championship, two Spa 24 Hour wins, Paris-Dakar Rallye Raid and Australia's Bathurst 1000 victories, as well as motorcycle trial titles.

Other British drivers who have won multiple disciplines will also be represented at the show, including John Surtees, who remains the only man to win world championships on two wheels and four, Sir Stirling Moss, who has secured victories in Grands Prix, endurance races, touring cars and rallying, and F1 World Champion, British Touring Car Champion, and Indy 500 winner Grahame Hill. America's Dan Gurney Japan's Kunimitsu Takahashi will also be represented. As for the festival's star cars, some of the greatest competition cars ever built from Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, Honda, McLaren, Ford, Williams, Penske and Ganassi and more will make some noise at the 2020 Festival of Speed.

"The Duke of Richmond has built up a monument based on respect and with that special touch that we probably call soul," said Jacky Ickx. Without doubt it's touching to have been invited to such a celebration. Years ago, we were freelance in a way: we could race everywhere, in different categories - it wasn't a narrow path."

"The driver, however good his talent is, only represents the know-how of the entire team. If you receive a good car, as I have often, it is easy to win. My results and my part in the Festival of Speed are recognizing that most of the work was done by people you never see, and I am sure that the event will be another fantastic occasion with a special atmosphere."

Last year's arena will return to this year's Festival of Speed with live stunt performers and drifting displays. Rumors also suggest the new hardcore Volkswagen Golf R will debut at the 2020 Festival of Speed, which runs from July 9 - 12, 2020.
