Brabus has given the 2020 Mercedes GLS the tuning treatment.
Last year, Mercedes lifted the wraps off the all-new 2020 GLS, which is the automaker's three-row SUV designed to take on the BMW X7. Inevitably, it hasn't taken long for the luxury SUV to get the aftermarket tuning treatment for those who want their 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS to have sportier styling and more power on tap. German tuner Brabus, one of the most prolific Mercedes-Benz tuners, has revealed its new tuning package for the 2020 Mercedes GLS dubbed the Brabus GLS D40.
Based on the AMG Line version, Brabus has redesigned the surrounds for the side air intakes and integrated lights and added a new tailgate-mounted spoiler.
Unique Brabus badging also distinguishes the modified Mercedes GLS. Customers can choice from a variety of new wheels including a 24-inch Monobloc Z Platinum Edition set wrapped in Pirelli 295/35 front and 335/30 rear tires. These subtle upgrades help give the 2020 Mercedes GLS a sportier appearance.
Inside, a comprehensive range of upgrades are available for the luxurious interior, including stainless scuff plates with a backlit 'Brabus' logo and aluminum pedals and door-lock pins, along with a choice of leather and Alcantara upholstery, wood inserts, and carbon fiber trim. An aftermarket control module for the AirMatic air suspension also reduces the ride height by one inch.
For now, the tuning package is only available for the Mercedes GLS 400d 4Matic, which packs a 2.9-liter diesel. Power increases from 325 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque to 365 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
However, Brabus is also developing upgrades for the more potent GLS 580 4Matic, which is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 with 489 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, while EQS provides an extra 22 hp and 184 lb-ft enabling the luxury SUV to do the 0-62 mph sprint in 5.2 seconds before maxing out at 155 mph.
