The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLB has been on our radar for months now, oftentimes dubbed the "Baby G Wagon." We don't think Mercedes has any problem with that. Given the global popularity of SUVs and crossovers, anything directly associated with the German automaker's iconic SUV will be good for business. But will the GLB have any of the bona fide off-road mannerisms as its big brother? To a certain extent, yes, but we have to remember one key thing: the GLB is based on the same platform as the new A-, B-, and CLA-Class, meaning it's front-wheel-drive-based.

All-wheel drive will obviously be included and it may even be standard. Our spy photographers have captured more revealing photos of the GLB partaking in some wintertime testing in snowy Sweden. The camouflage is now limited to really just a matte plastic so it's not too hard to make out many of the crossover's styling traits. In general, it looks very much like a modern Benz with an upright front end borrowed from the new G-Class. From the side view, it's boxy shape is all the more apparent; it won't be mistaken for a Mercedes GLA, GLC, or GLE.

We also managed to get some better interior shots than what we had previously. These fresh ones reveal a layout nearly the same as that of the new A- and CLA-Class. The latter will debut next month at CES in Las Vegas. There is one interior design exception though.

The center console looks slightly different and boxier compared to the sneak peek CLA interior shot Mercedes previously released. Aside from that, the big screen and air outlets appear to be the same. We also expect to see the latest version of the Mercedes front-wheel-drive-based infotainment system. In general, the GLB will be a bigger and boxier A- and CLA-Class. Expect to see the GLB officially debut sometime next summer.
