The Altima just keeps getting better.
The all-new 2019 Nissan Altima was a revolution for the long-standing nameplate, which is currently in its sixth generation. For 2019, the Altima received a new variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the option of an all-wheel-drive powertrain, making it one of only a handful of mid-size sedans to offer that feature. But Nissan isn't finished improving the Altima, and it's just announced pricing for the upgraded 2020 model. The car only receives minor updates for the 2020 model-year, but there are a few interesting changes and additional features worth mentioning.
One of those changes is the Altima's price, which starts at $24,100 for the front-wheel-drive S model and goes up to $25,450 for an Altima S equipped with Nissan's Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive system. Both S grades come equipped with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque.
To get the 2.0-liter VC turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 248 hp, you have to step up to the VC-T SR trim for $29,750. However, there is one small downside to selecting the more powerful engine - it is only available with FWD. All Altima models, regardless of trim level, send power out through Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission. Aside from pricing, the biggest change to the 2020 model year comes in the form of greater availability of safety features.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is now standard for SR-trimmed Altimas and above while the S trim now has an optional Driver Assist Package with Safety Shield, meaning the safety suite is now available on the entire 2020 Altima lineup. Other small changes include a mirror memory function on the Platinum Altima and Piano Black interior finishers on SV, SL, and Platinum trims.
Full pricing for the 2020 Altima for FWD models equipped with the 2.5-liter engine is as follows:
Adding AWD brings the prices to $25,450 for the S grade, $27,050 for the SR, $29,230 for the SV, $31,590 for the SL, and $33,530 for the Platinum. For the two turbocharged trim levels, Nissan is charging $29,750 for the SR and $35,180 for the Platinum.
