Those seeking a true body-on-frame SUV have fewer options than they did a decade or so ago, but the industry as a whole is not giving up on them just yet. Though they are gas guzzlers, traditional SUVs serve a wide variety of purposes from offroading to towing. One such example is the Nissan Armada. Redesigned for the 2017 model year, the Armada returns for 2020 relatively unchanged from last year despite previous reports hinting at some styling updates. The automaker has just released complete details as well as pricing for all trim levels.

The trim levels, the same as last year, are as follows: SV, SL, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve. All can be had with 4x2 or 4x4 drive configurations. The 2020 Nissan Armada is priced nearly the same as last year, with a starting price of $47,100 for the SV 4x2.

Step up to the Armada SL 4x2 and you'll be asked to fork over at least $51,900. Meanwhile, the Platinum 4x2 and Platinum Reserve 4x2 start off at $60,530 and $64,530, respectively. Adding 4WD tacks on $3,000 for all trims with one exception, the Platinum Reserve 4x4, a $3,500 expense. Only the Platinum and Platinum Reserve trims experienced a price increase – of just $200 each. None of these prices includes the $1,395 handling and destination fee, so bear that in mind. Compared to 2019, the 2020 Armada adds a new 22-inch wheel package with 22x8-inch, 14-spoke forged aluminum-alloy wheels wearing all-season tires. Heated outside mirrors are now standard on all trims.

With seating for up to eight occupants, the Armada continues to have just one engine option: a naturally aspirated 5.6-liter V8 with a best-in-class output of 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed automatic gearbox is standard. A two-speed transfer case comes with 4x4 models.

The base SV comes nicely equipped with standard 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, 10-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, 60/40 split-folding third-row seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a tow hitch receiver, among other items. Along with the aforementioned new wheel package, buyers are also offered Driver, Premium, and Captain's Chair Packages.

The 2020 Nissan Armada is now on sale at dealerships across the US.
