It's a good time to be a Porsche fan, as the all-new 911 is debuting at the LA Auto Show later this month. Initially, Porsche will show the Carrera S and 4S to the world, but more models and variants will inevitably follow. One of the most anticipated models will be the next-generation 911 GT3, a fan-favorite of the 911 range.

The new hardcore 911 GT3 isn't expected to be revealed until next year as a 2020 model, but our spies have spotted a prototype being tested at the Nurburgring with a production body. This time, the extensive photoshoot includes some close-up shots of the rear fascia, giving us our most detailed look at the new 911 GT3 yet.

As expected, the 2020 911 GT3 has received a huge rear wing, which makes it look more menacing than ever, although it will probably get some tweaks for the final production model. There's also an extra rear spoiler complementing the wing.

Elsewhere, the new GT3 is wearing a unique front bumper with new air intakes, but most of the changes are discretely disguised with black tape. The central exhausts, center lock wheels, and the flared wheel arches also indicate that we're looking at a prototype of the new 911 GT3.

As for the powertrain, rumors suggest the next 911 GT3 will be turbocharged, but we're hoping it will remain naturally aspirated and retain the model's traditional setup. There's hope, however, as our spies believe the prototype was powered by the current GT3's naturally aspirated 4.0-liter boxer engine. Hopefully, it will make a return in the new GT3 with more power - we're expecting it to be tuned to deliver around 550 hp.
