2021 Audi A6 Sport Arrives With More Power And Enhanced Styling

Reveal / Comments

Audi's entry-level A6 gets a surprise update for 2021.

After the entry-level Audi A6 TFSI was renewed for the 2019 model year, the entry-level midsize sedan has received a surprise "mid-model year refresh", arriving with enhanced styling, more power, and new standard equipment as part of a new Sport trim.

Under the hood, the entry-level A6 Sport 45 TFSI's 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine now generates 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 13 hp over the previous model. The torque level remains identical, however. Like last year's model, power is sent to a quattro all-wheel-drive system through a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission. No performance specifications have been released, but the power bump should make the 2021 A6 slightly faster than the 2020 model, which will sprint from 0-62 mph in 6.1 seconds.

As standard, all 2021 Audi A6 models are equipped with progressive steering that makes the steering ratio more direct as the steering angle increases to make the midsize sedan more maneuverable.

Audi's black optic exterior package also comes as standard, adding a black optic grille, air intakes, mirror housings, and high-gloss exterior window trim to give the luxury sedan a more sinister appearance. Inside, fine grain ash natural wood trim replaces the previous model's walnut natural wood trim, and a black headliner is now standard. Audi's Sport package, which includes 20-inch 5-V-spoke-design wheels and sport suspension, is now available at a "more accessible entry price point."

Standard equipment for the 2021 A6 includes LED headlights, three-zone automatic climate control, heated eight-way power front seats with four-way power lumbar adjustment, and leather seats with contrast stitching on the seats and dashboard. Like the 2020 model, the 2021 A6 comes with Audi's MMI touch response system featuring two large touchscreens and an available Audi virtual cockpit.

Standard and available driver assists include an adaptive cruise assist with traffic jam and turn assist, and Audi side assist with rear cross-traffic assist and vehicle exit warning.

Pricing for the 2021 Audi A6 Sport 45 TFSI starts at $55,400 excluding the $1,045 destination charge - that's $1,300 more expensive than the A6 Premium 45 TFSI.
