Time to question that Tesla purchase.
The Audi e-tron is one of the most important new models for the German automaker. This all-electric SUV represents the future of the luxury brand and its success is a must. That said, Audi is working extremely hard to generate interest and it certainly wouldn't mind if some potential Tesla customers had a change of heart. Perhaps this newly discovered discount will convince them and others.
CarsDirect has gotten hold of dealership incentive bulletins that reveal the 2021 e-tron is now eligible for up to $12,000 in savings. What's also impressive about this is the fact that it's the 2021 model, not the outgoing 2020. Typically at this time automakers are anxious to rid themselves of previous model year vehicles. So how does that $12k discount work?
Like many EVs, the e-tron is eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit and Audi is also offering that exact amount as a leasing bonus. Assuming you intend to lease, there's an additional $2,000 lease bonus cash on the e-tron Premium Plus trim. However, the top-of-the-line Prestige has a $3,000 discount for a total of $10,500 in savings.
And then there's this: Audi has also just begun to offer a $1,500 Season of Audi Credit that's good through January 4th. It doesn't matter if you buy or lease. Add everything up and there's your $12k in savings. But what if you're intent on driving an e-tron Sportback? Do these offers also apply? Most of them, yes. There's the $7,500 leasing bonus and the $1,500 Audi Credit for a combined $9,000 in savings.
Only the trim bonuses are not available. Bear in mind both the Tesla Model Y and Model X are no longer eligible for that federal tax credit. So, should that 2021 e-tron purchase be made right now? If you intend to lease, then yes. Those who prefer to finance should know Audi is currently offering 1.99 percent APR for up to 66 months, plus the Season of Credit discount.
Another key thing to remember is that Audi recently cut the base-level 2021 e-tron's price by nearly $9,000. It now starts at $65,900 instead of 2020's Premium Plus model, which began at $77,400. Aside from the end of year Audi Season of Credit, all other offers here are good through November 2.
