Of all the luxury automakers that offer an SUV Coupe, Audi is the company that seems to execute these models with the most tact and grace with models like the Q8. The facelifted Audi Q5 was revealed back in June, and just a few months later, the Audi Q5 Sportback was confirmed to take on the likes of the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, and recently-announced Infiniti QX55. Along with a conventional Q5 Sportback, the 2021 Audi SQ5 Sportback also joins the lineup to battle the sporty X4 M40i and GLC43.

Though these new Sportback models were previously shown off, Audi of America is finally ready to announce them for the United States market along with official pricing and other US-specific details.

The Q5 Sportback uses the same updated 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the normal Q5, producing 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque going out through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. 0-60 mph takes just 5.7 seconds. The SQ5 Sportback gets a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, sending 349 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic. Like the standard SQ5, it takes 4.7 seconds to hit 60 mph.

These models are mostly identical to their non-Sportback counterparts inside, but they have less storage space due to their coupe-like rooflines. Audi says the Sportbacks can accommodate 24.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the seats up and 51.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the seats folded. For comparison, those figures are 25.85 and 54.06 cubic feet in the standard Q5 and SQ5, so the Sportback transformation doesn't hurt cargo space too much compared to other coupe SUVs.

The 2021 Q5 Sportback is priced starting at $47,800 for the Premium trim level, which is $4,500 more than the standard Q5 (priced at $43,300). Pricing goes up to $51,000 for the Premium Plus trim and $56,500 for the Prestige. For reference, those trims cost $48,100 and $54,000 on the standard Q5.

As for the SQ5 Sportback, it starts at $56,100 for the Premium trim level compared to $52,900 for the standard SQ5. The SQ5 Sportback Premium Plus costs $59,500 while the Prestige costs $64,700. Audi will not offer the Q5 Sportback with the Q5's available plug-in hybrid drivetrain. These new Sportback variants should join the standard Q5 at US Audi dealerships later in 2021.
