In fact, no other GM vehicle has it (yet).
Traditional cars like the Chevrolet Cruze are a thing of the past for General Motors. The all-new 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer subcompact crossover, revealed last November at the 2019 LA Auto Show, is expected to sell in far greater numbers than the Cruze. The rise of the crossover has been swift and shows no signs of slowing down. And because of the segment's popularity, GM has apparently decided to give the new Trailblazer a feature no other vehicle in its vast lineup currently offers.
GM Authority has learned the 2021 Trailblazer is set to offer a wireless phone projection feature as part of the optional Technology Package. Not only does this feature allow Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration through a wireless Bluetooth connection, but it can also be used in conjunction with wireless charging. In other words, Trailblazer owners will never have to use a cable to connect their phone while traveling.
For now, only the new Trailblazer will offer the Wireless Smartphone Integration, though it will surely spread to more vehicles in the near future. The Technology Package it's a part of, however, will only be offered on the crossover's top two trim levels, ACTIV and RS. Other elements in the Technology Package include the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus system, HD radio, a Bose Premium seven-speaker sound system, Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Rear Vision Camera, an improved 4.2-inch diagonal multi-color display driver information screen, and LED headlamps.
Interestingly, the also new 2021 Buick Encore GX, the Trailblazer's corporate cousin, currently does not offer wireless smartphone integration. It's entirely possible this could change.
Why did GM give the Trailblazer wireless smartphone integration instead of the more premium Encore GX? The report didn't provide an answer, but a decent guess would be the Trailblazer's more affordable price tag. Its top two trim levels are likely to be less expensive than a comparatively equipped Encore GX.
Not bad at all for GM's most affordable brand.
