After unveiling the all-new Tahoe and Suburban full-size SUVs last year, Chevrolet is wasting no time giving the Traverse mid-size crossover a refresh for the 2021 model year to match the design direction of its siblings.

For the 2021 model year, the Chevrolet Traverse has been updated with a redesigned front and rear fascias inspired by the new Tahoe and Suburban. LED headlights and taillights now come as standard and the turn signals have been integrated into the daytime running lights. The front grille has also been restyled and there are four new wheel designs to choose from.

"The new Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban has received an overwhelmingly positive response from consumers," said Holt Ware, director of Chevrolet exteriors, crossovers and cars. "The new design of the 2021 Traverse gains this new commanding appearance and presence we know Traverse owners will appreciate."

Inside, there are new interior seating options and the available Dual SkyScape two-panel power sunroof now has power sunshade for the rear panel. An upgraded infotainment system is now available with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto support along with an eight-inch diagonal driver information display in the instrument cluster. Other new interior features include a wireless3 charging pad USB4 ports in all rows.

New standard safety tech for the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking lane keep assist with lane departure warning forward collision alert IntelliBeam, auto high beams, and a following distance indicator to match the 2021 Chevrolet Blazer and 2021 Chevrolet Equinox. Adaptive cruise control is also now available for 3LT, RS & Premier trims and a new safety alert seat comes as standard for Premier and High Country trims.

"With this refreshed Traverse, Chevy will have one of the freshest SUV lineups in the market," said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. "But it's more than just looks. Traverse already offers a long list of safety features and will now offer more standard safety features across all trims, in addition to the functionality and style Traverse owners have come to appreciate."

Chevrolet hasn't announced any technical updates, so powertrain options should carry over meaning the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse will be offered with the same 3.6-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission regardless of the trim. Pricing also hasn't been confirmed, but expect a price increase over the current Traverse, which starts at $29,800. According to Chevrolet, the 2021 Traverse will be available in late 2020.
