But not everyone will be eligible. Typical.
Although the jury is still out on the all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, official test drive reviews will certainly help determine whether the automaker has a hit on its hands. On paper, it certainly seems so, but that's not necessarily reality. In the meantime, we previously learned Ford has prohibited its dealerships from advertising the Mustang Mach-E under MSRP. However, that exception is called Ford Plan Pricing discounts.
Cars Direct has learned these essentially, haggle-free discount plans available exclusively to Ford employees and retirees, affiliated organizations, and friends and family. If you're not part of any of those groups then, well, it's a shame. But if you are then pricing for Ford's most interesting new model in years is about to get even better.
Here's a precise plan by plan breakdown:
A-Plan (Ford Employees): 4% below MSRP plus $275 administrative fee and 0.25% advertising fee
Z-Plan (Ford Retirees): Same as A-Plan
D-Plan (Dealer Employees): A-Plan plus $100
X-Plan (Ford Partners, Friends & Neighbors): 2% below MSRP plus $275 administrative fee
Of the four plans, the A-Plan offers the best discount, even with a 0.25 % advertising fee, which is typically waived altogether on more conventional models, such as the Ford Explorer. Say a Mustang Mach-E has a $45,000 price tag, but apply the 4% discount and that comes to $1,800 in savings. Take fees into account and you'll be looking at a $1,412 total discount, for a final price of $43,588. And yes, you're right; that's not a huge discount compared to other Ford models right now.
Remember, the Mustang Mach-E is brand new and production hasn't even gotten underway yet. Additional discounts, including those not eligible for any of the above plans, will happen in due time. Lastly, just who are those so-called "Ford Partners, Friends, and Neighbors?" Those eligible for the X-Plan include employees from companies such as General Electric and Dow Chemical. Heck, even some McDonald's and Chipotle employees can get the discount.
The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will arrive in dealerships in early 2021 but the automaker is now accepting reservations online.
