The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 returns for the 2021 model year unchanged but buyers will have some new options to choose from. The 760-horsepower ultimate factory-built Mustang is already available with the Handling Pack and the Carbon Fiber Track Pack for an additional cost, but there'll be a third package Ford will tempt customers with.

The 2021 Mustang Shelby GT500 will also offer a new Carbon Fiber Handling Package that bundles some of the best elements of the two current packages into one. For instance, the Carbon Fiber Track Pack's 20-inch wheels (though they'll be painted instead of exposed carbon fiber), and the adjustable strut top mounts and gurney flap from the Handling Pack.

Owners will get some of the additional weight savings and performance-focused features they desire but not have to pony up the additional $18,500 for everything the Carbon Fiber Track Pack includes. Remember, the Mustang Shelby GT500 carries a starting price of over $74,000.

CarBuzz reached out to Ford and a spokesperson confirmed "there is a new package for 21MY Mustang Shelby GT500 in the form of the new Carbon Fiber Handling Package." Pricing will be announced at a later date.

Other features the new pack offers include a wheel lock kit, splitter wickers, and catch can. What's not included are the Recaro leather-trimmed seats, rear seat delete, exposed carbon instrument panel and GT4 track wing, and Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires.

The rest of the Mustang Shelby GT500's features remain unchanged; the two existing packages also return for the new model year. The supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8 doesn't require any updates, nor does the Tremec 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power directly to the rear wheels. Throughout last year, we noticed several Ford dealerships charging crazy markups for the vehicle, much to Ford's and customers' chagrin.

Hopefully, some of the first model year hype has cooled off and customers will be able to pay sticker price. In the meantime, we're still waiting for a response or an official announcement from the Blue Oval that should include the new package's pricing information.
