2021 GMC Yukon XL Finally Gets A Price Tag

Pricing / Comments

Surprisingly, the base model is only slightly more expensive than the old Yukon.

After Chevrolet lifted the wraps off the next-generation Tahoe and Suburban last year, it was only a matter of time before the next-generation 2021 GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL would debut. GMC unveiled the new full-size SUVs at a private event in Colorado back in January with fresh styling, a new engine lineup, and vastly improved interior space. Deliveries of the 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL will begin this summer, and now we finally know how much they will cost. Unsurprisingly, the more premium 2021 GMC Yukon will be more expensive than the new Tahoe and Suburban.

Pricing for the 2021 GMC Yukon starts at $51,995, which makes it $1,700 more expensive than the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, while the longer 2021 GMC Yukon XL starts at $54,695. Both prices include the $1,295 destination charge.

As standard, the base SLE trim packs a 5.3-liter V8 engine producing 355 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic. Opting for four-wheel drive will cost an extra $3,000 for all trim levels and is offered as standard for the off-road-focused AT4, which starts at $66,095 for the Yukon and $68,795 for the Yukon XL.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2021 Yukon is 6.1 inches longer with a five-inch longer wheelbase and has 41 percent more third-row legroom and 66 percent more cargo volume behind the third row.

It also gains an independent rear suspension system. Despite this wealth of upgrades, the 2021 GMC Yukon's starting price is only $100 more expensive than its predecessor, although the XL verison is $1,000 more expensive than the outgoing model.

Topping the range is the luxurious Denali trim, starting at $69,695 for the Yukon and $72,395 for the Yukon XL. A 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower is offered as standard and the plush trim also has a unique instrument panel, as well as luxurious wood trim and hand-stitched leather. Other luxuries include a surround-view camera and a 15-inch head-up display, while 22-inch wheels, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, and a panoramic sunroof can be added at an extra cost.

Fully loaded, the Yukon XL Denali costs over $87,000. Now we just need to wait for pricing of the new 2021 Cadillac Escalade to be announced.
