The new Trail Edition has a hefty premium over the standard model.
Earlier this year, Toyota unveiled a new Trail special edition of its Tacoma pickup truck, which is still a strong seller despite being considerably older than its more modern competitors. Based on the SR5 trim and available with 2WD or 4WD, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition is aimed at outdoor enthusiasts with a focus on extra storage and convenience features, and also features unique styling touches to distinguish it.
At the time, we didn't know how much the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will cost, but now Toyota has announced pricing details for the entire 2021 Tacoma lineup. With 2WD, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition starts at $34,000, while the 4WD version will set you back $37,080.
That's a hefty premium over the base 2021 Toyota Tacoma SR Access Cab, which starts at $26,150 with 2WD and $29,225 with 4WD. To set it apart from the regular model, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trail features black exterior badging and black seating with tan stitching. It also comes with all-weather floor liners as standard, along with dark gray 16-inch TRD off-road wheels wrapped in Kevlar all-terrain tires and the grille from the Tacoma Limited.
There's also a 120-volt power outlet in the bed for added versatility. The rugged Toyota TRD Pro also carries over for the 2021 model year with a new Lunar Rock color replacing Army Green. Other available colors for the TRD Pro include Super White, Magnetic Gray Metallic, and Midnight Black Metallic. Available only with 4WD, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro starts at $46,780.
Joining the 2021 Toyota Tacoma model lineup is a new Nightshade Edition. Whereas most special-edition Toyota Nightshade models are based on the trim, the 2021 Nightshade Tacoma is built on the luxurious Limited grade model with black leather seats and black exterior trim. Available with 2WD or 4WD, the Tacoma Nightshade rides on Dark Smoke 18-inch alloy wheels and is fitted with a black exhaust tip and fog light bezels and a darkened-chrome grille insert.
Available exterior colors include Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, and Windchill Pearl, with the latter color costing extra. Pricing for the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Nightshade starts at $39,905 with 2WD and $42,980 with 4WD. The Double Cab version, on the other hand, starts at $46,780, making it the most expensive model in the 2021 Toyota Tacoma range. All pricing excludes the additional $1,175 destination and handling charge.
