Less toys, but likely more affordable.
The Cadillac XT4 is receiving a few updates for the 2022 model year.
In addition to three new colors, the turbocharged four-cylinder engine has been detuned and is down by two horses. Cadillac has also renamed the leatherette seats to Inteluxe, setting a new gold standard for marketing speak. The Sport trim also gets new red brake calipers. These upgrades aren't exactly spectacular, but we don't blame Caddy. Its engineers were likely preoccupied with the new Blackwing models.
Cadillac will also offer a new Premium Comfort and Convenience Package. The current Comfort and Convenience package retails for $995, though the 2022 option will likely cost more.
This new optional package includes 8-way power adjustment for the front passenger, lumbar massage for the front seats, 4-way power lumbar control for the front seats, a powered seatback bolster for the driver and passenger, as well as ventilated seats.
Fitting this option also requires the Cold Weather Package, which consists of heated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and an automatic heated steering wheel. This new package replaces the existing Comfort and Convenience Package and the Comfort and Technology Preferred Package.
The existing Comfort and Technology Preferred Package currently retails at a discounted price of $3,250. Caddy's new Premium Comfort and Convenience Package is essentially the same, but drop the 8-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, wireless charging, and power-adjustable steering column.
If we had to take an educated guess, most customers likely shied away from this option due to the high price.
Adding the Comfort and Technology Preferred Package and the Comfort and Convenience Package to the 2021 model increases the MSRP from $39,995 to $44,595.
Hopefully, these new packages will result in a more affordable fully-loaded XT4, which is already struggling in a constant battle with the Acura RDX. Most of the Cadillac range will be receiving minor updates for 2022, but none of them are getting the brand-new logo. It seems Cadillac is saving the new emblem for the launch of the Lyriq, which sold out within 20 minutes of the order books opening.
