After the Ford Fiesta family was refreshed for the 2022 model year, it was only a matter of time before the same updates were applied to the current-generation Ford Focus. For 2022, the popular family car has been updated with fresh styling, more standard equipment, and improved cabin tech.

Like the refreshed Fiesta, the 2022 Focus sports a redesigned hood that increases the height of the nose. The Ford Blue Oval badge also moves to the center of the upper grille. New LED headlights with integrated fog lights are now standard on all trims, which are distinguished with unique design details. Connected and Titanium trims, for example, feature a wide upper grille with a gloss chrome surround, while the upper grille bars on Titanium trims are finished in chrome.

Topping the range, the high-performance Focus ST features honeycomb upper and lower front grilles, large side vents, side skirts, and a roof spoiler. As standard, the new Focus ST rides on 18-inch wheels, though optional 19-inch wheels are also available.

Inside, the interior is upgraded with a 13.2-inch screen with Ford's new Sync 4 infotainment software supporting over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Heating and ventilation are now operated using the touchscreen, making the center console less cluttered. Ford's Sync 4 system also supports advanced speech recognition for up to 15 European languages.

The 2022 Focus ST features new, more comfortable performance seats with fourteen-way power seat adjustment and four-way adjustable lumbar support.

Under the hood, the 2022 Ford Focus is powered by 1.0-liter EcoBoost with a 48-volt mild system offered with 123 hp or 153 hp. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox or a new optionally available seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic. A 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine without electrification rated at 123 hp is also available with a six-speed manual, as well as a 118-hp 1.5-liter diesel paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

As before, the h Focus ST is powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost delivering 276 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters. In the UK, pricing for the 2022 Ford Focus will start at £22,465 ($30,742) but the popular hatchback has been discontinued in the US. With the Focus ST no longer available, America is missing out on one of the most enjoyable hot hatchbacks on the market.
