2022 Genesis GV80 Spied With New Six-Seater Layout

Spy Shots / 1 Comment

The second row offers most of the conveniences of the first row.

The Genesis GV80 is a lovely luxury SUV and a genuine alternative to German juggernauts like the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class. It's also one of the safest new vehicles you can buy. Up until now, the GV80 has been offered in both five- and seven-seater flavors, the latter having a third seating row with two seats. Now, thanks to The Korean Car Blog, a new spy shot confirms that the 2022 GV80 will be offered with a more luxurious six-seater layout in a 2+2+2 configuration. This should make for a particularly comfortable second row.

The spy shot provided shows this second seating row with a full center console housing an armrest, cupholders, storage space, and the Genesis integrated controller. This will enable occupants to control numerous comfort and connectivity functions. As you can see, dual touchscreens are also equipped for the lucky individuals seated in this second row. What's less clear is how the two people seated in the third row will manage. We have previously climbed into the third row of the seven-seater GV80 and it must be said that it was uncomfortably cramped back there. It's doubtful that matters will be much improved in this six-seater variant.

Other features that are expected in the second row of the six-seater GV80 are heated and ventilated seats, adjustment of the backrest angle, and wireless charging pads. The 2022 GV80 is expected to gain some new interior color schemes, an improved head-up display, and an updated augmented reality navigation system. The one other change mentioned is a new exterior package.

The GV80 is slated to be launched in the third quarter of this year. Considering that second-row captain's chairs are available on other luxury SUVs in the US like the new Infiniti QX60 and the Hyundai Palisade, we see little reason that this new GV80 derivative won't be sold stateside as well.
