If you're not already a fan of the new 2022 Honda Civic Si, then you're about to be. The automaker has released official pricing details for its entry-level compact sports sedan and, as expected, it's totally affordable. The MSPR for the redesigned model is a darn decent $27,300. Add in the $1,035 destination charge and you're looking at $28,315 all in. Want to add high-performance summer tires for improved grip and handling? That'll be only $200 more.

To compare, the outgoing Civic Si sedan (the Civic coupe lineup has been dropped entirely) started off at around $25,200, so the price increase isn't too significant. Bear in mind buyers will also be getting a lot more car for their money. The updated 1.5-liter turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder engine is now rated at 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.

Yes, that's 5 hp less than last year but bear in mind the new powerplant maintains more output up to its 6,500 rpm redline. There's also a new and lighter single-mass flywheel that gives the engine an improved throttle response. The six-speed manual gearbox has also been tweaked. Shifter feel has been improved and there's now a rev-matching system.

The completely reworked suspension comes with stiffer springs and bushings, firmer dampers, and thicker anti-roll bars. Styling-wise, we think the entire 11th-generation Civic lineup looks much better than its immediate predecessor. Gone is the somewhat clunky and angled appearance in favor of a more simplified yet stylish design.

The interior is another major improvement. All Civic Sis come standard with body stabilizing sports seats, a metal honeycomb dash panel, a nine-inch HD color touchscreen, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system with a subwoofer. Standard safety includes the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist features like Traffic Sign Recognition and a rear seat reminder.

All of this is available to customers for less than $30k. The 2022 Civic Si is more than just a performance sedan. It's also a perfectly suitable daily driver. Without question, it's one of the best overall packages on sale today for gearheads on a budget.
