Introduced on the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, FCA's (now Stellanis) excellent Uconnect 5 infotainment system has spread to more models, including Dodge and Jeep. Uconnect 5 offers notable improvements over the outgoing Uconnect 4 system, including an Android-based interface, larger screen sizes with better resolution, smartphone-style widgets, over-the-air updates, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and the ability to connect two Bluetooth devices.

These stellar upgrades are now coming to the 2022 Ram lineup.

Stellantis revealed that Uconnect 5 is coming to the Ram truck and fleet lineups. There's no specific mention of which models and trim levels will receive the new system, but photos show a 2022 Ram 1500 with the optional 12-inch screen, now powered by Uconnect 5.

"A competitive advantage of our Uconnect 5 system lies in its ability to align with customer needs using personalization and unique content for each brand," said Mamatha Chamarthi, Head of Software Business and Product Management. "The features and user experience are tailor-made for Ram trucks and Ram commercial vehicles, and will continue to expand with the digitalization of mobility."

Some Ram-specific Uconnect features include faster processing speeds for the Off-Road and Performance Pages found in models such as the TRX, resulting in quicker load times. The Ram 1500 becomes only the second vehicle to offer vertical integration for Apple CarPlay, taking up almost the full 12-inch screen. Users can still run a split-screen with a widget, while Android Auto doesn't take up the entire display as before.

Ram says owners will love Uconnect's new customization features. For example, an owner that tows frequently can make the powertrain temperatures easily accessible on the screen or the optional head-up display.

In addition to the infotainment upgrades, 2022 Ram models receive an upgraded feature that enables preferred third-party fleet data collection companies to monitor fleet vehicles. Having access to more information will allow fleet managers to save money with fewer accidents, regular maintenance, avoided downtime, and operational efficiency. We look forward to sampling these new features across the 2022 Ram lineup.
