It doesn't include the Gazoo Racing model we were waiting for, but Toyota has released new information for the 2022 Corolla family. This includes the 2022 Toyota Corolla Sedan, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, and the 2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. None of the three cars has any major changes, so this can best be described as a mid-year update.

The Corolla Sedan carries on into 2022 with a whopping eight trim levels. The main trim levels include the L ($20,075), LE ($20,525), SE ($22,525), XLE ($24,475), and XSE ($25,975). Toyota will continue to offer a few special edition models, such as the SE Nightshade Edition ($23,225), SE Apex Edition ($25,220), and XSE Apex Edition ($28,360). The SE and SE Apex Edition are also available with a manual gearbox. All prices exclude a $1,025 destination and handling fee. Toyota's press release doesn't mention any major changes, but Ruby Flare and Windchill Pearl are added as available colors.

The changes aren't any deeper for the 2022 Corolla Hatchback. It comes in five trim levels: SE MT ($20,915), SE ($22,015), XSE MT ($23,865), XSE ($24,965), and SE Nightshade ($22,915). Toyota will continue to offer two-tone colors on the Corolla Hatch, plus a new Finish Line Red Premium paint color.

The hatchback uses the same engine found in the sedan, a 2.0-liter Dynamic-Force direct-injection inline four-cylinder producing 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. Power goes out to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT.

We had high hopes Toyota would introduce new trim levels for the Corolla Hybrid, which has quickly become one of our favorite models thanks to its impressive 52-mpg combined fuel economy rating. However, the Corolla Hybrid only soldiers on with a single LE trim level for $23,650. The LE trim is rather basic inside, so we wanted Toyota to add a higher XLE trim level for this model. Alas, the Corolla Hybrid stays as-is, using a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine from the Prius, producing 121 hp.

All 2022 Toyota Corolla models should be available at dealers soon.
