Thankfully, there are also some new options.
Given the stroke of bad luck the Chevy Corvette has had over the last year regarding supply issues and production shutdowns, we weren't really all that surprised to see the price come up. After all, the Chevy Camaro didn't get a price bump. We'll chalk it up to supply and demand. GM put a lot of money into the development of both the base C8 Corvette and the new flat-plane V8 Z06. And GM hasn't been able to produce as many units as it would've hoped.
Corvette production has been hampered by everything from fires to tornadoes, to chip shortages. So, a $1,050 price bump isn't all that surprising, which has been confirmed by the automaker. If you'll lower the pitchforks for a moment, it's not like GM is trying to rip anyone off. The 2023 'Vette is also getting several new options.
First and foremost, that includes the $5,995 70th Anniversary package. For those that didn't catch the 70th Anniversary Edition reveal, the options on that package are pretty straightforward. There's two colors: either White Pearl or Carbon Flash Metallic (black), special wheels, and some stripes (for $995) just about covers it. Thankfully, that isn't all that's available for the 2023 iteration of the most famous Chevy.
Chevrolet added some new 20-inch wheel styles, each available in a few colors. There's gloss black ($995), the 70th Anniversary black and red wheels ($1,495), bronze, and a super-bright machined finish ($1,995). Unfortunately, the bronze wheels are a dealer-installed accessory and pricing isn't available yet. You can also get some nice jet-black tailpipes for the performance exhaust for an extra $200.
Chevy has also added a new interior bits, including Stealth Aluminum trim and the Adrenaline Red leather from the 70th Anniversary car. That leather, by the way, is a no-cost option. Given the simply massive spread of new options, it's not hard to see why Chevy had to up the price. These things cost money to make, after all. And it sounds like GM and Chevy could use all the help they can get making Corvette bits.
